My name is Richard Foreman the creator and founder of the RVA Weather Network. I am not a trained meteorologist but a weather geek at heart. I will talk about weather any chance I get. Small talk is not a problem since it’s always about the weather. Attached is a photo of some of the weather tools I have at home.
I am not writing this to gain more followers or for click-bait, just want to let everyone know what I use to study the weather. I cross post more information from 8News Weather and local US National Weather Service Wakefield VA because it’s already created and to make it easier. There was a time I had a weather site and created the information but it became too much. So that is the reason for creating this group.
There are members of the local media and government offices in this group so any weather information they think is important they can grab and share with the public. My main forecast is to keep the general public safe in any types of weather events.
The first photo on the left is a CoCoRaHS Headquarters rain gauge. This is a group of volunteers that will collect precipitation reading everyday and post them to the website. This information is used by weather.gov and private weather enterprises along with radar data to get a better understanding of precipitation measurements. I have been involved with this group for about five years now. Check them out at: http://www.cocorahs.org/
The second photo on the top right is my Personal Weather Station (PWS). This device collects temperature, barometric pressure, humidity, wind speed and direction and rainfall. This information is uploaded to wunderground.com. Right now my weather station is working expect for the temperature readings stuck on -40 degrees. It is about five years old and needs to be replaced soon. You can check it out at : https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KVACHEST36
The second image on the right is my BloomSky device. This has weather instruments along with a fish-eye webcam build in. This takes temperature readings, barometric pressure, humidity and has a sensor of if it’s raining or not. The biggest feature is that it takes a photo of the sky every five minutes and then creates a time lapses at the end of the day. Weather information along with the webcam can be viewed at: https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KVACHEST46#history Check them out at: https://www.bloomsky.com/
The image at the bottom is my GRLevelX radar program. This is my own personal weather radar that I can customize with different types of radar images and for the location. Zoom in to local areas and sure information on the group or on social media. Check them out at: http://www.grlevelx.com/
